Most conveyor problems that get blamed on the belt are caused by something in this list. Flights that are the wrong height for the incline, a side guard that leaves a gap at the flight, a rod that walks out of the belt edge, a return path with no support: each of these produces a symptom that looks like a belt fault.
| Part | What it does | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Flights (cleats) | Carry product up an incline | Height (50 / 102 / 150 mm, can be cut), spacing, belt series |
| Side guards | Keep product on the belt | Height (50 / 100 / 150 mm), belt series, clearance to the flight |
| Hinge rods | Join the modules | Diameter and material (Nylon 4.6 mm, PP 7.8 mm), belt width |
| Belt connectors | Splice a belt and attach accessories | Single, double or arc, M6 or M8 |
| Finger transfer plates | Move product across the gap at a belt end | Belt series, belt width |
| Return wheels | Support the belt on the return run | Centre or edge block, spacing |
| Pressure rollers | Hold the belt down on inclines and declines | Position, belt series |
| Bearing bushings | Locate a sprocket axially | Round bore 25 / 30 / 40 mm, square bore 40 / 50 / 60 mm |
| Bushing inserts | Adapt a sprocket bore to your shaft | 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 mm |
| Split ball roller inserts | Add a ball transfer surface to the belt | Transverse or longitudinal |
Flights and side guards are ordered together more often than not, because product that is lifted by a flight escapes sideways without a guard. Not every series takes both. The sizing rules are in specifying flights and side guards.
Guide strips moulded into the underside of a belt are part of the belt, not an accessory, and they are the item most often missed when a replacement is ordered. If your frame has a slot, the belt that goes in it needs strips to match. See bottom guide strips.
Yes. Rods can be driven out and back in, and a damaged module can be replaced without taking the whole belt off the conveyor. The method and the mistakes that let a rod walk out are in hinge rods and field splicing.
Flights and side guards are series specific. Rods are matched by diameter and belt width. Send the belt series if you know it, or the four measurements from the measuring guide if you do not.
Belt series and width, the accessory heights you want, the incline angle if there is one, and how many metres of belt. Accessories are priced per belt rather than per metre, so the belt length matters.
